Dressed in black

A few weeks ago the Finnish Elle approached me, and asked if my boyfriendand I could participate in a piece about couples sharing a similar style. Along with two other couples, we said yes, and finally today the magazine hit the stores. As for the photos, we had to choose a party and an everyday outfit for the photo shoot, plus pick one of our favorite items. The whole situation was actually quite funny because we had both decided our outfits separately without consolidating each other, yet we ended up in very similar gear. I guess when you have been together with someone for such a long time, intentionally or unintentionally, you start to resemble each other, more or less.

Hope against hope

On Monday I woke up to an irritating sound which signaled me that unfortunately my summer holiday was now officially over, and it was time to get back to work. At the same time, I mentally prepared myself for the fact that during the weekdays “dressing in whatever I want” -phase was over, and the “dressing in the dullest pieces of your closet” -phase was back. Don’t get me wrong, at least we get to wear jeans and sort of relaxed clothes at work; a full on dress code would be a total devastation for me. Even so, getting back to work is always an inspiration killer. All I’m saying is that thank God for weekends, I don’t know what I would do without those guys.

Talking about what’s “not fit for the office”, I sported this outfit last Saturday. The Rodarte inspired fishnets (or rather spidernets) are something “new”; I got them from Stockholm in June but haven’t introduced them until now. Tomorrow I will introduce some more of my new acquiries, I’ve actually burned out my credit card by online shopping to ease the pain. There is no better therapy than shopping, or how you say?

I got a heat wave burning in my heart

This morning I was so sad to say goodbye to the heat wave that had been delighting us for the past two weeks. I have to admit though, that during the hot season it’s really difficult to pull off a decent outfit because everything comfortable looks rather boring. Fashion wise I’m more of a fall/winter person anyway, so my closet is filled with color black, sweaters, cardigans, wool and other thick materials. Nothing truly suitable for crazy hot summer days like these.

Luckily, I was able to find something really light weight and decent summer wear while I was in Stockholm. So, it’s no wonder my outfit for the past three days has been this loose, sleeveless button-up dress from MTWTFSS paired with relaxed as ever cycling shorts from the same line. I fell so much in love with the shorts that I had to get a another pair in black too. Finally I have something in closet that can be worn during those extremely hot days. So, heat wave, bring it on!

Latex love

Last night I attended my brother’s and his girlfriend Minna‘s housewarming party in their lovely new apartment and later on hit the local rock club in the city. The night was a success all and all, thanks to Minna’s amazing skill of making the most delicious and eye-catching cocktail treats (something I have never been able to master) and all the crazy dancing we did. It was also fun catching up with friends I haven’t seen in awhile.

I decided to wear something less revealing as the temperature outside hit about -10 Celsius and there was some walking in question. My trusted wrinkled button-up shirt with the sewn-in scarf was the perfect choice, proving its versatility and usefulness once again. The latex leggings are a purchase from a few days ago at Spirit Store, the buyer of the store had brought them as samples from London. They are definitely a rare piece as they only had four pairs of these in total. It appears like the latex finish is cracking, giving it that sort of painted punk look. I googled the brand name “Progress” but it didn’t bring any results. Does anyone know more about this UK brand and if they have a web store of some sort? I’m assuming it’s a very small designer since the leggings are still made in the UK. Works for me!
