Like Alice in the wonderland

The weather here in Finland has been amazing, so the past days have included park picnics, road trips, and visits to the local sights. One of the most interesting places in my hometown Tampere, is a palace called “Milavida” (or Näsinlinna as the locals call it) which has been closed from the public for 12 years due to renovation. This mysterious new baroque style building is so beautiful on the outside, so when the opportunity came to peek inside due to a temporary art exhibition, I knew we had to act fast. The promising shell of this perfect villa truly delivered: It was literally like stepping right in the middle of a fairy tale with it’s checkerboard floors, large windows and endless staircases. If I get filthy rich one day, I now know where I’m investing my money.

Naturally I couldn’t resist to shoot my outfit in these magical surroundings, and I’m quite sure I’ll return here in the following days. What comes to my outfit, the off-white Ann Demeulemeester hooded tunic is a new purchase and so comfy that so far I worn it three times over the weekend. Tonight when I go the Weekday store opening in Helsinki, it will be day number four.

If you are interested in visiting Milavida a.k.a. Näsinlinna, it’s open until 30.5.2010 from Tuesday to Sunday from 11-18 and located on the Näsinpuisto hill in Tampere.

Broken record

It’s hard to believe that today it was actually possible to go outside without a jacket or a sweater, and enjoy the first ice cream (Italian of course!) of the season in the great outdoors. I guess you can officially say that summer is coming.

The temperature rise has left me kind of clueless when it comes to dressing-up; adjusting your wardrobe to a sudden heat wave is a bit of burden for layer lover like me. Luckily, I had been far-sighted and purchased this black Nakkna dress from my Stockholm trip a few weeks ago, thinking it would be perfect little dress for those hot summer days. Little did I know that it would be needed much faster than anyone could imagine.

Today also stands significant for me because I got the well deserved break from wearing any type of drop-crotch pants and at the same time finally changed this broken record of mine. So, summer and dresses, I’m ready for you! Are you ready for me?

Feeling without touching

I spent a nice and sunny weekend in Stockholm, hence nothing new from the blogging front. Our initial plan was to visit my relatives and see a Glass Candy show but due to an unfortunate accident, the latter had been canceled. Despite the few throwbacks, we had an excellent time in Sweden celebrating the 1st of May, a.k.a. Valborg’s day, by a bonfire in the local park and dancing the night away at Debaser.

Stockholm is one of those cities which never leaves you cold, especially when it was about 10 degrees warmer than here in Finland. It’s a real pity I didn’t  manage to take the weather back with me; instead I took back a few new things  that will enrich my  summer wardrobe.

Enjoy your weekend!

Winning a battle, losing the war

Some might call me crazy or stupid but what can you do when your friends are demanding you to go out on a Saturday night, despite my efforts of telling them “I got a flu guys, I don’t think I should go”.  In fact, they just offered me more French apple cider and said that “you know, apples should keep the doctor away”. Well, I didn’t get worse but I didn’t get better either. Plus minus zero situation, at least I had fun.

I notice now that Saturday’s outfit pictures are actually missing a cardigan which I kept on all night; I’m happy something was telling me to listen to the more rational side of my brain. I also thought I’d keep the jewelry minimal and use a safetypin with some chain to lock the vest in place. It looks pretty nifty, huh?

I’m really hoping to get over my sickness by Saturday because one of my favorite girls is turning 22 and I really want to be there. Plus it would be the perfect occasion to introduce my new purchases in action. Wish me well!
