Zippers and Lilies

Being sick is no fun but at least I got something exciting to keep me thinking about the better days that lie ahead: A new couple called Ann Demeulemeester and Rick Owens has just moved into my wardrobe, and aren’t they a fancy one? It’s definitely a love story of opposites attracting, one being dreamy soft and the other hard as steel. Together they will compliment my spring looks, as soon as I’ve defeated this darn flu and got back on my feet (and high heels) again.

Signal red

I have a weird relationship with red: I don’t particularly like the color but for some reason the color seems to suit me. Being a brunette with an olive toned skin, red, in fact, should pretty much love me if we go by the book.

I can tolerate red in small pieces such as an accentuating color, for example my apartment is  decorated mainly with black, white, and red. No problem there. However, when it comes to my clothing, I probably own only a dress and a pair of gloves in this brightest of the colors. Red lipstick or more muted tones of red don’t give me shivers, and as you might know,  I own a pair of cherry red shoes which I absolutely adore. But when it comes to the signal red color in large amounts, I back up and get irritated. I’m “seeing red”, so to speak.

So why all this talk about the color red, you might ask. Well, I don’t know what exactly has happened with my brainwaves but when one of my favorite designers, Ann Demeulemeester, marched an army of black and red on the runway in Paris last week, my heart pretty much stopped: red had never looked so fierce, so brave, and oh so good. At this point I really have to praise the magic maker herself, as no one has ever made me actually like and want red this much. I guess when it’s presented right, anything can look beautiful. Even the color red.

You are an obsession, I cannot sleep, I am a possession, unopened at your feet

I’ve been looking for the perfect blazer for a year now, something with a structured shoulder line, great fit and feel. So far my search has led nowhere; I’ve returned and turned down a few decent options which just didn’t quite cut it, making me more frustrated and obssessed than ever.

It seems that a temporary solution to the problem was closer than I thought. It so happens that my boyfriend owns an amazing Viridi Anne blazer that meets all my requirements: it has enough shoulder padding and great details, it fits like a boyfriend blazer but is still feminine enough to pair it with pretty much my whole wardrobe.  Why I call this perfect solution a temporary one then? Well, one problem still exists: what if one day we both feel like wearing it?

So the hunt down for the perfect one for me still continues, though now there is an excellent temporary solution available. Well, at least on those days when my boyfriend is not in a blazer mood, which unfortunately, doesn’t happen too often. I don’t blame him though. It’s one great blazer.

Peg leg

If you have wondered why I’ve been quiet for awhile, well, on Tuesday I got sick from the flu shot which put me into bed for a few days. Finally on Friday evening I was feeling better, so we invited some friends over and all of us ended up dancing the night way at the club Hang the Dj.

I built the evening’s outfit around these amazing peg leg pants which I ordered from Carin Wester‘s mega sale (thanks Stella for the tip!) and a beige shoulder padded top I got in Berlin but haven’t really worn until now. To be honest, it feels nice to wear something other than all black for once, as my outfits and mood have both been quite dark in the past weeks. Perhaps it was the glimpse of sun hitting from the window that got me in a spring mood and craving some color to the mix. Well, whatever “mental disturbance” it was, it seemed to work!
