In the showroom: OBSCUR A/W 11/12

During the Paris men’s fashion week I had the chance to visit the showroom of OBSCUR, a Swedish label run by my good friend Richard Söderberg. His latest collection, inspired by the cold winters of Scandinavia, was presented in a beautiful old Paris building with gothic romantic surroundings, coherently complementing the mood of the collection. OBSCUR’s autumn/winter 2011/2012 consists of tailored winter coats, blazers with attached gloves, structured pants, distressed leather boots, and soft leathers which the label is most known for. Many beautiful pieces which I would not mind owning myself.

Paris men’s fashion week: Boris Bidjan Saberi F/W 11/12

Last but definitely not least, I am offering one more Paris fashion week F/w 11/12 treat from one of my favorite designers, Boris Bidjan Saberi. Even though this is a men’s wear line, the sizing of the garments drops all the way down to XS, providing us women a chance to explore the masculine side.

Boris’s latest collection A/W 11/12, was presented in what seemed like an old gymnasium with models appearing behind massive bleachers to present Saberi’s work. To emphasize the designers influences and sub-cultural background, hip hop beats pulsated the venue as skateboarders were performing tricks over a launch box in this dimly lit venue. The pieces had aesthetics common to Boris: Drape, texture, leather manipulation, and heavy detailing. Jus like in the S/S11 looks, the new collection featured experimentation with transparent leather, but this time introducing blood red transparency for the winter. A strong cohesive collection once again from Boris Bidjan Saberi, and I can definitely see myself purchasing a few pieces when it becomes available.

Just like heaven

I promise to pipe down about my Paris adventures after this post, so I hope you can tolerate one more. I wanted to share a place that is quite close to what I could call heaven: the Rick Owens store in Paris. If you’re in town, this beautifully composed boutique, located in the corridors of the magnificent Palais Royal, is definitely worth a visit. I made my two (and only) Paris purchases here, which haven’t been properly introduced yet. Just another thing to add on my ever growing “to do” list.

Paris men’s fashion week: the Viridi-anne S/S 2011

The third fashion show or rather an installation for us on the Paris men’s fashion week, was the Viridi-anne Spring/Summer2011 collection, titled “Blue Period”. This Japanese design house has completely won over my boyfriend’s heart, and after experiencing the climb up to a castle-like dark  tower where the beautiful clothes,  gorgeous model boys, and blue dim light popped up here and there, I was  also sold. It’s no wonder this brand has succeeded mainly in the European market, the classic silhouettes with intelligent cuts are the Viridi-anne’s best trades, separating it from the more outrageous Japanese fashion.  Personally, I’m enamored of the fact that the shades of blue are back in the spring’s color palette, alongside with different hats which I share a secret passion for.

Outside of the show after taking my outfit pictures (ps. the DRK SHDW cape shirt is  part one of my two purchases made in Paris!) we bumped into a few fellow Finns Siidaa and Sophie, who’s almost matching ensembles were screaming for perpetuating. The picture of  Sophie sitting on the railing is so delicate and beautiful, that I’m still in awe about the fact that how on earth I managed to captured her so perfectly (Sophie being a professional model might have also helped a bit but let’s pretend you didn’t know that). I guess my photographing skills have somewhat improved with practice, especially with portraits which I love to do the most.
