Paris men’s fashion week: Juun.J S/S 2011

You know that it’s fashion week in Paris when despite the +30 Celsius heat, almost everyone is dressed in black. Buyers, journalists, and other fashionable folks are crowding outside the fashion shows, fanning themselves with the invitations whilst cameras are flashing as the street style photographers are on the hunt down for interesting looks.

When the doors finally open, the most important buyers get to go first, followed by the major  journalists and photographers, celebs and finally the rest. Usually the fashion shows start (fashionably) late, so until you hear the camera men screaming “let’s start the show”, everybody is still trying to figure out their seat and air kisses to their acquaintances.

All of a sudden the crowd calms down, music starts and the handsome models begin strutting down the catwalk. In about ten minutes the show is over, the designer has bowed to the audience, everyone rushes outside, and the camera rumba starts all over again. That’s  pretty much a fashion show in a nutshell for you guys.

My boyfriend Peter and I were able to attend a few shows, starting with the Korean designer Juun.J., who was showing his fourth summer collection in Paris. I personally liked the dressed-up desert look which also had a hint of Twin Peaks in the mix with the lumberjack coats, motorcycle jackets and trenches (though I’m not quite sure agent Cooper would approve of this). All and all it was a good first show and an excellent start for our busy Paris men’s fashion week experience. More  of the shows to come later!

Chain mail

A couple of days ago the postman brought me a pleasant mail which came in the form of black leather and steel chains. The reason for this new venture in my wardrobe is that in our summer party, we all got a gift card to the gTie boutique, and after spending hours admiring the shop’s many offerings, I decided to go with the Spaideri shoulder chain. When I finally got to try the piece on, I knew I had made the right choice: This little thing shall spicen up any outfit and will provide a simple solution to those days when necklaces and bracelets seem too much. It’s just what I needed!

If you also fancy heavy weight jewelry and accessories, do check out the gTie web store or visit the physical boutique in Helsinki, Finland on Pursimiehenkatu 11. gTie delivers internationally and the designer Jenni also does custom made pieces, in case you’re looking for something more specific.

Lumi love

For awhile now, I’ve been looking for an elegant bag with an attitude, that would be compact yet have room for my wallet, phone, SLR camera, umbrella and some beauty products; All the essential that a girl and a style blogger needs on a daily basis. Fortunately, a few weeks ago THE perfect bag magically came to me in our summer party, as I found this divine leather and canvas mix Lumi Twist Supermarket Bag in my goodie bag. It’s literally like a match made in heaven: The bag has a touch of Avant Garde (a fashion movement close to my heart), the perfect blend of feminine and masculine (just the way I like it), and easy to wear from day to night (increases it’s life span and wearability).

The bag comes extremely handy when I travel to Paris in a few weeks, and it  certainly won’t fade out into the stylish crowd of the fashion week – quite the contrary!

Affordable Luxury

On Tuesday my long wait was over, as the time for the Affordable Luxury collection for Lindex launch party in Helsinki came, and I finally got to try on the clothes that had been on my mind ever since I came out of the press conference in March. Three of us Indiedays bloggers (including myself, Niina and Aurora) got to choose our favorites from the collection which  literally made me feel like a kid in a candy store.

Being a big fan of contrasts and often playing with the masculine and feminine, soft and hard – this collection seemed to have it all. The black  mesh tunic was of course an obvious choice for me, as were the harem shorts. I had also picked up a few other garments but will introduce those later.

If you want to see more of the collection and my first ever video interview with Ewa Larsson, the mastermind behind this amazing collection, do check the Lindex showroom for more info.
