Photographic

Yesterday, fresh right after work, my fellow blogger colleague Niina and I drove to Helsinki for the photographer, Daniela Talvitie’s Fashion Photo Helsinki exhibition opening party. Since neither of us managed to take any proper pictures from the party itself, we decided to externalize our outfits in the yard of the a beautiful church that we spotted outside. Somehow the ethereal surroundings of the church under the cotton candy sky seemed to fit the mood of our rather black empowered outfits seamlessly, making me wonder that who even needs color when you can have a backdrop like this one?

If you’re a fan of fashion photography and in Helsinki during the following weeks, do check out Daniela’s exhibition at the Design Museum.

In the hanging garden

My boyfriend says that the weather right now is exactly how it is during October in Southern California. Obviously we have chosen the wrong place to live in because I would kill for weather like this all fall through; Being able to wear a leather jacket with sandals is pretty much what I would call the perfect season.

Speaking of which, this Obscur leather jacket has been lurking in my closet ever since June, waiting for these perfect, end of summer days to come. When we were introduced to each other in Paris, it was love at first sight. It’s a great feeling to wear a piece of art that has been designed by a friend, making the garment much more personal and interesting – almost if it was telling a story. I really can’t wait to show you guys what the Obscur designer, Richard Söderberg, has in store for next summer but more about that soon…I promise.

Flow 2010

Veni, vidi, vici. Recovering from a three day festival is like recovering from a massive hangover, requiring lots of sleep, plenty of water and some good ole junk food (too tired to cook after the hustle and bustle). Flow Festival in Helsinki was great and so was the company. Can’t believe I’m going through with this again in a few weeks, as we’re heading to the Berlin Festival in Germany. I’m quite excited though!

Flow 2010
I want to thank my girls, Essi, Laura, Ranna and Sophie for the great company (and all my other friends who are not meantioned or do not appear in the pictures, you are great too!), Indiedays for the tickets, for great musical enjoyment the XX, Beach House and the Radio Dept, Hannulelauri for the best dance party, and for pictures 1 & 2 my very own Peter.

P.S. Those of you who came here due to my little black  business card, your style pictures can be found from here.

Mesh & lace

A rainy weekend indoors calls for relaxed clothes and taking out last summer’s favorite slouching shorts. To make things more interesting, I added the mesh top and the lace bustier to give a touch of luxury to an otherwise ordinary outfit. Now that I think about it, I really should give this MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela mesh top more wear, as the last time it was worn was over a year ago. I don’t know how great pieces like this one end up getting lost in one’s closet, that’s a mystery that needs to be solved.

Have a great weekend!
