Weekend madness

You know those weekends that are so full of action that it feels like you don’t even have time to take a breath? Well, last weekend felt like that for me but in a good sense, of course. On Friday I hosted a little get-together for my friends and the beautiful Nadja from Are You Feeling Fashionable? came to join the party. We also paid a visit to the local indie club and met up with the ever-so-stylish Sugar Kane on the dance floor. (Friday’s outfit pics to come on the next post!)
 
On Saturday, all tired from the previous night’s festivities, Nadja and I headed to a park picnic organized by some Finnish bloggers. The sun was shining, the birds were singing (or rather these caged roosters were cock-a-doodle-dooing) and about 15 stylish bloggers came together for a little meet and greet. I forgot to bring my camera but luckily the talented Maria was working as the official paparazzi, and took a few close ups of me with her pro camera.

My boyfriend also perpetuated my outfit and Nadja’s before we walked her to the train station in the evening. Hope you guys had a great weekend; I know I did!

Last night Deerhunter was playing at Tavastia in Helsinki and I went to see it with myboyfriend, Ranna and her boyfriend. The show was really good and the singer Bradfod Cox really has a talent in stand up comedy with his strangely funny in-between comments and manoeuvres. In the end the band let audience members play the instruments while the the band was beating the hell out of the drum set. A good show indeed, I recommend checking them out!

I wanted to wear something suitable for an indie rock gig, so I went with all black and a drapy “oat meal” colored cardigan that a colleague of mine has ordered from All Saintsbut didn’t want to keep for some reason. She must be crazy because this is the most comfortable cottony thing ever! I was so glad that it fit me and it’s precisely my style, too. Hey, a new color addition to my wardrobe!

Blog party

As important as a party itself, is what you wear to a party. Since I’m a panic dresser when it comes to important events, I usually start planning on the outfit of the evening weeks beforehand. When you’re on a minute schedule on the d-day, everything should be in order because there is no time for mistakes. With a great help from Shini of Park&Cube, I acquired this amazing Rick Owens-like dress from All Saints. The dress had been sold out from the All Saints webstore so I turned to Shini and she was so helpful to assist me in my mission and got it from the London store. Thank you Shini once more, you really saved me from a dress crisis!

The dress came in need, as a month of hard work and anticipation finally paid off last night, when I and about 30 other style bloggers met up in a blog party in my hometown Tampere. Nelliina and I had put this fun event together with an agenda including shopping tour in local boutiques, Finnish fashion designers presentation, a live band, fashion quiz, good food, DJ’s and great sponsors such as Nanso, Nelly.com, and John Freida. Even though there was a couple of draw backs on the way, we succeeded in making a great party – I think we should totally start a company organizing events like this!

The night was so much fun and full of great conversations; it was so nice to see the people behind the blogs you follow on a daily basis. We definitely need to have more of these meetings in the future!

Wrangler party

Last night I travelled to Helsinki to attend a party for Wrangler jeans. I and some other Finnish bloggers were invited to an evening with American party treats and free pair of jeans. Even though the jeans need some customizing (they were not tapered enough for my taste), it was worth the trip to see all these lovely ladies and talk about blogging and fashion.

My outfit for the evening was inspired by Rick Owens’ creations, as I found this very Rick Owens like wool vest by Pour from the Jus store in Stockholm. I’ve worn it almost every day this week, that’s how comfortable and warm it is. I combined it with my new pleather pants, a loose shirt borrowed from my boyfriend, OTK boots (with the fringes tucked in to achieve the RO elephant boot look) and added my mom’s old bronze cross to top the look.
