In the showroom: OBSCUR A/W 11/12

During the Paris men’s fashion week I had the chance to visit the showroom of OBSCUR, a Swedish label run by my good friend Richard Söderberg. His latest collection, inspired by the cold winters of Scandinavia, was presented in a beautiful old Paris building with gothic romantic surroundings, coherently complementing the mood of the collection. OBSCUR’s autumn/winter 2011/2012 consists of tailored winter coats, blazers with attached gloves, structured pants, distressed leather boots, and soft leathers which the label is most known for. Many beautiful pieces which I would not mind owning myself.

At Darklands

I still haven’t fully recovered from the sleep deprivation caused by all the crazy partying I did in Berlin, but I’m slowly getting united with what was left behind on Thursday. Introducing here my new hooded Boris Bidjan Saberi cardigan which I, after taking a long view, acquired from my absolute favorite Berlin boutique, Darklands, on the day of our arrival. This pretty little number is made of bamboo and is so soft and comfortable that I spent the rest of my four day mini vacation literally living and almost sleeping in it. The only time I gave it a little rest was on Saturday, when the sun was beaming from a blue sky, making it too hot to even wear a shirt for that matter. So yes, our destiny is sealed, we are pretty much inseparable now and will stick together through thick and thin, until unraveling threads (I hope never) do us apart.

Photographic

Yesterday, fresh right after work, my fellow blogger colleague Niina and I drove to Helsinki for the photographer, Daniela Talvitie’s Fashion Photo Helsinki exhibition opening party. Since neither of us managed to take any proper pictures from the party itself, we decided to externalize our outfits in the yard of the a beautiful church that we spotted outside. Somehow the ethereal surroundings of the church under the cotton candy sky seemed to fit the mood of our rather black empowered outfits seamlessly, making me wonder that who even needs color when you can have a backdrop like this one?

If you’re a fan of fashion photography and in Helsinki during the following weeks, do check out Daniela’s exhibition at the Design Museum.
