Ninja warrior

Hello it’s me, yours truly, the urban ninja warrior! Jokes aside, this ensemble is actually from Saturday’s live music night where I was wearing a currently purchased vest/top with a pair of harem pants that haven’t been formally introduced here, though they have been hanging on my clothing rack since the turn of the year. I’m loving the pleats and the silhouette that the top and the pants create, it’s almost as if they were one. This combo is so relaxed that I’m definitely going to sport it as daywear as soon as the temperature allows me to do so which right now, seems to be light years away.

Fair and square

This week the Tampere Film Festival took over the town and we were partaking the evening actitivies during the weekend. Friday night offered an interesting documentary about the birth of the rave culture and for me it was such a nostalgia trip being a teenager and living it large when the rave scene hit Finland. After the movie we danced to all the 90’s acid tunes that the techno pioneers of the past were offering us at the after party.

To celebrate the event, I dug out a pair of shoes that I haven’t worn since junior high school, circa 1997. I remember how badly I wanted these square toed motorcycle boots and how mature they made me feel when I finally got them. I knew that the time of the square toed look would come again, and was rather amused when Rad Hourani‘s version was introduced last year. I have yet to decide what’s my relationship with this familiar look, I like it but at the same time I’m a bit sensitive to jump into it completely. All I know is that with this outfit, these old bad boys actually work.

You are an obsession, I cannot sleep, I am a possession, unopened at your feet

I’ve been looking for the perfect blazer for a year now, something with a structured shoulder line, great fit and feel. So far my search has led nowhere; I’ve returned and turned down a few decent options which just didn’t quite cut it, making me more frustrated and obssessed than ever.

It seems that a temporary solution to the problem was closer than I thought. It so happens that my boyfriend owns an amazing Viridi Anne blazer that meets all my requirements: it has enough shoulder padding and great details, it fits like a boyfriend blazer but is still feminine enough to pair it with pretty much my whole wardrobe.  Why I call this perfect solution a temporary one then? Well, one problem still exists: what if one day we both feel like wearing it?

So the hunt down for the perfect one for me still continues, though now there is an excellent temporary solution available. Well, at least on those days when my boyfriend is not in a blazer mood, which unfortunately, doesn’t happen too often. I don’t blame him though. It’s one great blazer.

Take me out tonight, where there is music and there is people who are young and alive

Last weekend was so much fun and went by way too fast; it was nice meeting up with some of my older friends and making new ones. It’s a pity I didn’t manage to take any pictures from our stylish guests but I guess when you’re having a good time until the early hours of the morning, camera just might be the last thing to think about. Well, there is always next time…

When it comes to fashion, my mind seems to work on an unconscious level: Whilst constructing my outfit for Saturday, I happened to glimpse the Julius fall/winter collection and saw this outfit in the bunch (photo courtesy of the Fashionisto). Now, I have worn this very same outfit even before seeing the Julius collection but with the leather glove, it looks almost identical. It’s no wonder because I always tend to fall in love with collections where  the most elements are already part of my wardrobe – clothes, that don’t necessarily redefine my style each season but rather strengthen it.

This reminds me, I have tapered cargo pants hidden somewhere in the attic. Perhaps it’s about time to let them see the light of day…
