Paris men’s fashion week: the Viridi-anne S/S 2011

The third fashion show or rather an installation for us on the Paris men’s fashion week, was the Viridi-anne Spring/Summer2011 collection, titled “Blue Period”. This Japanese design house has completely won over my boyfriend’s heart, and after experiencing the climb up to a castle-like dark  tower where the beautiful clothes,  gorgeous model boys, and blue dim light popped up here and there, I was  also sold. It’s no wonder this brand has succeeded mainly in the European market, the classic silhouettes with intelligent cuts are the Viridi-anne’s best trades, separating it from the more outrageous Japanese fashion.  Personally, I’m enamored of the fact that the shades of blue are back in the spring’s color palette, alongside with different hats which I share a secret passion for.

Outside of the show after taking my outfit pictures (ps. the DRK SHDW cape shirt is  part one of my two purchases made in Paris!) we bumped into a few fellow Finns Siidaa and Sophie, who’s almost matching ensembles were screaming for perpetuating. The picture of  Sophie sitting on the railing is so delicate and beautiful, that I’m still in awe about the fact that how on earth I managed to captured her so perfectly (Sophie being a professional model might have also helped a bit but let’s pretend you didn’t know that). I guess my photographing skills have somewhat improved with practice, especially with portraits which I love to do the most.

Hunting for witches

I don’t know how it’s with the other bloggers but it’s not very often that my beloved photographer actually wants to take my pictures, and usually the process requires a long  persuasion and generous bribing to get the job done. So when he says  “today your outfit is looking so good that I don’t even mind taking the pictures”, I must have done something right. Even though a kid in a stroller had yelled “mom, is that a witch?” when I walked passed him. I chose to ignore the incident with amusement, and marked this day down as a huge progress in our photographer-subject relationship instead. This really might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, or maybe I just need to keep the boyfriend approved outfits coming. Either way is fine with me.

Goodbye spring, welcome summer (part 2)

To save you from a complete picture overload, I decided to save my outfit shots from Saturday’s party to a separate post. My ensemble consisted of pretty much of an Owens/Demeulemeester union,  more specifically of the Rick Owens maxi skirt that I bought awhile back but haven’t photographed until now,  a silk Ann Demeulemeester top from my Berlin trip, my precious Owens wedges and a zipper necklace from Ann Dem as well.  My hat is a fast purchase made on Saturday morning  and it’s from the H&M Fashion against AIDS collection. I had been eying on it ever since the campaign images hit my email box a few weeks ago, and in a way it kind of reminds me of this season which only, has a positive ending to the story.

Like Alice in the wonderland

The weather here in Finland has been amazing, so the past days have included park picnics, road trips, and visits to the local sights. One of the most interesting places in my hometown Tampere, is a palace called “Milavida” (or Näsinlinna as the locals call it) which has been closed from the public for 12 years due to renovation. This mysterious new baroque style building is so beautiful on the outside, so when the opportunity came to peek inside due to a temporary art exhibition, I knew we had to act fast. The promising shell of this perfect villa truly delivered: It was literally like stepping right in the middle of a fairy tale with it’s checkerboard floors, large windows and endless staircases. If I get filthy rich one day, I now know where I’m investing my money.

Naturally I couldn’t resist to shoot my outfit in these magical surroundings, and I’m quite sure I’ll return here in the following days. What comes to my outfit, the off-white Ann Demeulemeester hooded tunic is a new purchase and so comfy that so far I worn it three times over the weekend. Tonight when I go the Weekday store opening in Helsinki, it will be day number four.

If you are interested in visiting Milavida a.k.a. Näsinlinna, it’s open until 30.5.2010 from Tuesday to Sunday from 11-18 and located on the Näsinpuisto hill in Tampere.
