On the (w)edge

Anyone who reads my blog should know by now how obsessed I’ve been with Givenchy and Riccardo Tisci’s creations. I’ve been on the look out for the perfect Givenchy like wedge sandals (Louboutin, Ann Dem, Opening Ceremony and Acne has similar too) for awhile now and when I noticed these Bronx ones from Elenita’s blog a couple of days a ago, it was from that moment on I was sure that they shall be mine, no matter what. The creamy color just wasn’t as wearable, so I started to browse online searching for a black leather version. All the web stores that carried them were all located in the U.S. (damn customs!) and my size was sold out from most of the places too. Clueless of what to do I turned to my friend Esa at Spirit Store emailing him about my desperate need of these shoes (he has been a great help before when I was on the hunt for a pair of platform booties, thanks Esa!!). Instantly he promised to look them up for me, and even contact the buyer if they couldn’t find them from any of the stores. You can believe how excited I was when I received an email saying that he found the shoes from another store and a phone call today asking me to come pick them up. So here they are: my very own lace-up sandals. I’m so happy I could faint!

All we need now is for the snow to melt and spring to arrive, so I can take these babies out for a walk. In the meanwhile, they’ll get their debut indoors.

Jeepers Creepers

I’ve always felt a bit guilty for rocking my 4 inch heels when my boyfriend and I go out on the weekends. It so happens that we are almost the same height, making me a platform heeled giant compared to him. It doesn’t really bug him that much but somehow the situation is a bit unfair.
We have both actively searched for these crazy Rick Owens men’s heels which in my opinion, would look totally awesome on him. Prince (the musician) once stated that he “doesn’t wear heels because he’s short, he wears them because the ladies like it“, and I believe him. I just happen to be one those ladies who doesn’t see anything wrong with a guy wearing a bit of heel, why would it only be women’s right to do so? They guys did in the 70’s and there was nothing wrong about it back then, so why should it matter now? Rick Owens himself puts it this way: “As the suit gave Marlene Dietrich extra allure, high heels on a guy give him a reckless virility. If there’s an icy hauteur to a boxy black suit on a woman, there’s a good-natured middle finger to heels on a guy, as if to say, “I dare you to blink at me, mother fucker”“, and he is so right.

While the search for the Owens heels continue in the wonderful world of fashion forums and online stores, I found something awhile back that might be a one step closer to solving our height difference: the Creepers. My boyfriend was hestitating at first (nostalgia issue, his brother had them in the 90’s) but after seeing more Creepers marching down the runway and us spending numerous hours on the internet searching for the right pair, these zipper Creepers came to our view. It was THE pair that he just couldn’t say no to.

I have to say I’m actually really warming up for Creepers myself, I just have to find the right look and size. They would look great with skinny jeans, a band tee and a blazer. Add a little bit of red lipstick, messy hair and smokey eyes and you got the whole rock chic look down. Works for me!

PS. If there are any readers out there selling the Rick Owens heels in size 41, please email me. Your help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

In the snow

The coldness of the winter here in the North has made it impossible to take decent outfit pictures, but today I decided to make a little sacrifice by going out to shoot in the snow while it was still light outside. I constructed today’s outfit solely on these ripped Lee jeans that my boyfriend got for me a few Xmases ago and which I recently “re-found” from my closet. I honestly don’t understand how I’ve been letting these jeans collect dust for such a long time because I’m totally in love with them again! Perhaps I was avoiding the lowish waistline but with longer tops they work just fine and look very Kate Moss indeed.
Later on when I hit the town, I made a cape out of my sweater jacket and added combat boots to finalize the look that would keep me warm. With the layering of the two t-shirts, the black sheer shirt doesn’t look as revealing but it still keeps its see-through nature visible to the eye.

OTK love

Thanks to a very aware anonymous reader who had spotted these amazing boots in the Andiamo shoe store’s window, I am now a proud owner of a pair of leather OTK boots. Thank you so much for the help; my mission came to a happy end. The sales lady was kind enough to give me some shoe care products and these cool inflatable boot trees. They are every shoe lover’s dream toys.
