The boot dilemma: OTK boots

The sun is starting to set here at 4pm which has made it impossible to take pictures without any decent light. As it leaves much more time for internet surfing, I have been obsessively looking for a perfect pair of over the knee (OTK) boots. While browsing through the Givenchy’s spring/summer 09 collection, their OTK boots made my hunger grow.

Ebay has some vintage pairs to offer but majority of the time the prices get a bit too high or the size is not right. I almost jumped from my seat when my lovely boyfriend linked me these OTK boots with a zipper from Yesstyle.

However, PU as a material worries me as the weather is getting colder and I’ve had an experience with a pair of boots that had cracked when the temperature hit -20C (yes, it does get that cold here sometimes). I’m also worried about the possible customs and tax that might affect the purchase (anyone have any experience with ordering from Hong Kong?). After surfing some more in the wonderful world of internet, I found a couple of interesting pairs from Bianco Footwear. They both seem quite perfect but the price is still rather high for my taste.

If any of you dear readers know a good online store where I could get a pair of OTK boots that actually ship to Europe, are leather and not overly priced, please help a girl in need. I will also check a local store here since my trusted salesperson emailed me that might have something I’m looking for. I got my Bullboxer platform booties there after his recommendation and those have been my most worn pair of shoes this year. Hopefully my search will come to a happy end.

The combat boots 2008

Last winter I made a huge deal about getting myself a pair of platform booties. This winter my obsession is combat boots; well, in fact the obsession started last year but I had to choose between platforms and combats. Girl can’t have it all at once, right? Anyway, I have been looking for the perfect pair from every single store in my town, and today I came really close to what I want. I’m still debating though, wondering if there is something better around the corner (I’m sure you all know the feeling). I’m quite content with my purchase, and I think these do look great BUT.. there is always the big but…

Combat boots: Kenkärepo

I would like them to be more like the Ann Dem ones, with a longer leg. I know there is one place in Helsinki which might have something like it but one can never be sure. Also the thing is, that I would like to wear the combat boots to a fashion meeting organized by Tyylitaivas on Saturday (which is the initial reason why I’m going to Helsinki). What to do? Shall I keep these or keep looking? The more I try them on, the more I grow into them…

I also got this cool studded belt a few days back. Originally it was too long but the store customizes and shortens the belts to be suitable for their new owner. What I was looking for was something Lulu from Everybody’s Ugly is wearing. However, I had no chance of going to Zara so this belt had to do. It’s not the same exact thing but I like it a lot anyway!

Soon I’m off to see Everything is Made in China, a truly great Russian indie/shoe gaze/post rock band.

Cherry crush

Remember when I was debating whether or not to get these red shoes? Well the debate is over since it seems that a -10% discount was a valid enough reason for me to go ahead and purchase them, no questions asked. I named them my cherry bon bons because they look so deliciously cherry red that you just wanna eat them up.

Of course, when it stopped raining cats and dogs (and we actually had sun shine for a whole one hour), I had to go test drive them. Aren’t they the prettiest thing?
