Everlong

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! I spent mine rather quietly at my childhood home eating a lot of traditional Finnish Christmas food and exchanging a few gifts. I will introduce one of them sometime soon when the weather gets a bit more tolerable.

This outfit is from Sunday night, it’s sort of a tradition here to go out on the Boxing Day and shake off all the Christmas stress – dancing from 9pm to 4am definitely did that for me. Hence the relaxed outfit and comfortable shoes; you need those when you’re not sure how many drinks are going to be poured on you and how much glass there is on the dance floor. This time around I could avoid it all and had an amazing night to remember. Now my aching body remembers it too.

Enjoy the last week of 2010!

Sound of silence

In very short time of its existence, this outfit has become one of my all time favorites: In fact, I’m so infatuated with it that I’ve worn it on several occasions already from going out to getting out of the country. Now it’s finally captured on camera, thanks to the special backyard studio which is providing a peaceful place to shoot pictures when the city above is in full motion. I really like how the strap of the cardigan blends perfectly with the straps of the trousers and then connects again to the strap on the top, creating holy trinity like combination. Almost divine, one could say.

A couple of posts ago I promised  better pictures of my new winter coat and since I’m a woman of my word, here we go. I love how you don’t really have to pay attention to what are you wearing underneath, as the coat pretty much covers the whole body. The massive hood is a great addition too, especially when you feel like hiding from the world or just simply getting your Jedi-mood on. For me it’s the ultimate solution for those lazy days when I can keep my PJs on, wear no make up, and no one would have a clue – Thanks Rick, you really thought of it all.

Construction in black

The fact that our backyard has been turned into a giant tent withholding a noisy construction zone, made it tempting to live dangerously, and use the space to snap a few pictures regardless of the “keep out” sign taped to our back door. Not only did it give a rather interesting background to the photos, but also a chance to finally introduce these high waisted Ann Demeulemeester trousers which I got for my birthday last month. As usual, I have worn them on multiple occasions since, yet somehow always managed to avoid getting them eternalized in their full glory. My latest wardrobe resident is made of 85% virgin wool, as comfortable as it can get, and full of neat little details, like the twisted seams, slits in the hem and two buckled straps on the waistline. Very Ann D indeed. Somehow that woman knows how to make clothes to flatter the female body, and hey, that works for me.
