Celebrate the nun

I feel like I’m stuck into the same pattern all the time, for instance I’ve been mainly wearing black all month and have created a huge crush for hooded garments. I blame it on the cold weather though: at times like this you just want to hide from the cold and camouflage yourself into the darkness. Hence the indoor photography, it defintely takes balls to go out there to pose in -17 Celcius (I respect all you bloggers out there who are brave enough to do it!). Luckily I got good camera gear to take decent indoor shots and a photograpther who is not complaining, as long as we are staying within the warmth of our apartment.

So, this outfit is from last night’s party, we had some friends over for Singstar and later danced the night away at club Hang the Dj. I wore a knitted net BBS vest I acquired from Darklands in Berlin (yep it’s mens), and a silk Ann Demeuelemeeser top and boots bought from the very same city (God, how I miss Berlin already, might have to go back there in the spring!). I topped the outfit with my pleather pants and an old Kalevala Koru necklace I got  (or rather took) from my mother’s jewelery box when I was like ten.  Somehow it’s so current again…

Now I’m off to catch some Zs, my body doesn’t seem handle partying as well as it used to… Enjoy your Sunday, folks!

Spring it on

When the temperature is still below zero and you’re trapped inside hibernating from the cold,  thoughts of springtime automatically flow into mind. Even though fashion wise I’m not the biggest fan of the season, this year it seems like the spring could actually turn out to be a good one. Stripes, black, white, grey and touch of rustic metals doesn’t sound too bad and obviously my favorite designers have not failed to please my minimalistic and colorless taste, no matter what the season. In fact, this year I’m as excited about the spring fashion as the fashion magazine world is excited about pushing out the September issue. So, thank you Ann Demeulemeester, Riccardo Tisci and Rick Owens for making my spring  2010 inspiring and wearable – this is how fashion should always be.  And the best part of it all: most of the elements are already hanging in my own closet!

Shape shifter

I was probably the only blogger who had not stressed so much about the outfit selection for the Indiedays launch party, as I had mine planned already two weeks ago when I brought back this layered dress from Berlin. I was looking for something that would go well with the Rick Owens wedges I had bought just a few days before my trip, and this dress completely hit the spot: It’s layered, versatile, made of jersey and organza silk, and as “me” as a me can get. I love how you can make it a hoodie, a cape or even give it a sporty look by just gathering all the layers on the front. This won’t be the last time you’ll see this new friend of mine…

Indiedays launch party

On Friday, 19 bloggers and one fashionable crowd gathered to the gallery Kalhama & Piippo to celebrate the start of the new blog media, Indiedays. Annie (<3) was spinning, the crowd was mingling, the champagne was bubbling, and afterwards we were treated with fine wining and dining, in good company of course. The late hours of the night were spent at the local rock joint, dancing into good tunes and going crazy on the dancefloor with my fellow bloggers. Oh what a night!
